MORE SIDECHAIN FUN: DYNAMIC
EQUALIZATION |
BY ROBERT DENNIS |
|
| An instrument's tone is determined by how loud the fundamental frequency is
compared to the harmonic
frequencies put out by that instrument. Equalization causes certain
frequencies to be louder (or softer) than other frequencies present in the signal.
Equalization will therefore change the tone of the instrument. Equalization used to
do desirable things (like increase the "attack" of an instrument) can therefore
have hugely undesirable side effects (like making the instrument harsh). |
